Sometimes you can whittle it down to a brand that you would like to purchase, but still have questions about which model would be the right fit for you. The Chevrolet lineup, for example, is packed full of outstanding crossovers and SUVs, such that it can be difficult to decide which one to ultimately purchase. Today we’re going to look at two of these crossover utility vehicles to highlight the key differences between them to hopefully help you come to a decision on which to choose. In other words, today we’re going to be comparing the 2025 Chevy Blazer and 2025 Chevy Equinox.
Let’s first take a look at the power and efficiency specifications of the two utility vehicles. The 2025 Chevy Blazer is a midsize crossover with two different powertrain options to choose from, with the standard option being a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder capable of generating up to 228 horsepower alongside 258 pound-feet of torque. If you want even more power than that, you can instead opt for a 3.6L V6 that can dole out 308 hp and 270 lb-ft. of torque, knowing you’ll be sacrificing a bit of fuel efficiency to do so. The I-4 engine achieves 22 miles per gallon through the city and 29 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive, or 22/27 mpg with AWD, whereas the V6 drops to 19/26 and 18/26 mpg respectively.
The 2025 Chevy Equinox, on the other hand, is a compact crossover with just one powertrain option to go beneath its hood. It’s powered by a 1.5L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that manages to achieve 26/28 mpg with FWD or 24/29 mpg with AWD. It’s capable of generating up to 175 horsepower and its torque depends on which drivetrain you choose. FWD can generate up to 184 lb-ft. while AWD achieves up to 203 lb-ft.
Naturally, space is a very important aspect of any utility vehicle, but especially in smaller models. Just because a vehicle is smaller, doesn’t mean it can skimp on how much space it offers you. The 2025 Chevy Blazer manages to offer 107.8 cubic feet of space for its passengers, with 30.5 cu. ft. of space behind the rear seats. You can drop those rear seats flat to open up 64.2 cu. ft. and, if you really need to accommodate cargo, you can haul up to 1,500 lbs. without a trailering package or up to 4,500 lbs. with one, depending on certain factors.
The 2025 Chevy Equinox is a bit smaller, but it certainly doesn’t sacrifice too much in the way of spaciousness. You’ll still have 104.3 cu. ft. of space without a sunroof or 100.1 cu. ft. with one, with 29.8 cu. ft. behind the rear seat to fill with cargo. Dropping the rear seats opens up 63.5 cu. ft. and you can trailer up to 800 lbs. with FWD or 1,500 lbs. with AWD. While the Blazer can certainly trailer much more with the appropriate packages, the differences in space are not that substantial! But if you need to maximize your space as much as possible, or have heavy trailering intentions, the Blazer may be the right choice.
Both vehicles are packed full of great features and technologies, though some things might differ between the models.
