Published on Sep 8, 2024 by Jim Glover Chevrolet Creative Team

If you own a vehicle you know that upon having made that purchase you agreed to the responsibility of taking care of that vehicle. If you want to get the most out of your car, truck or SUV through the years in which you own it, you make sure to stay on top of regularly scheduled maintenance and take care of any other problems that come up between those service visits. One thing that we hope doesn’t happen but always has a chance to is tears in your seats. Whether they be surfaced in leather or cloth, tears can happen and you probably want to take care of them quickly to maintain the comfort and aesthetics of your Chevy Tahoe’s interior.

Torn Seating Upholstery

Why should I fix seat tears?

Before we dive into the meat and potatoes of maintaining your Tahoe’s seats, we just thought we’d start by going over why you should be fixing your seats when they get tears in them. First and foremost, taking care of small problems early can prevent bigger problems from occurring later. You might just have a small upholstery tear right now, but if you leave it like that the more you get in and out of your seat the more it might continue to rip and eventually you’ll have a massive hole in your seat that’s not so easily repaired.

Another, perhaps even more appealing reason to repair seat tears in your Chevy Tahoe is to save money. Not only does maintaining your vehicle help to increase its resale value, but patching seats is much more inexpensive than completely reupholstering them with fabric, which usually costs around $2,500, and even more so than leather which can be exponentially more expensive.

It might be best to get a leather & vinyl or fabric upholstery repair kit, which should have everything you need already together. In addition, you’ll need the following equipment:
