Chevrolet is filled with iconic vehicles, from the most obvious Corvette to one of the big three pickup trucks in the Silverado, and the Suburban is certainly among them. Believe it or not, the first generation of the Chevy Suburban kicked off all the way back in 1935, meaning that 2025 will be its 90th anniversary. Naturally, the full-size SUV has undergone a ton of changes through the nine decades it’s been on the market. For example, it wasn’t even an SUV when it started, but rather a full-size station wagon. Now a few years into its 12th generation, the 2025 Chevy Suburban is getting a mid-generation refresh and we’re stoked to have it for sale right here at Jim Glover Chevrolet in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A ton has been enhanced and upgraded in the Suburban for the new model year, including fresh aesthetics both inside and out, a more powerful diesel engine option and several new technologies and features. We’ve already detailed many of the things that are new in the 2025 Chevy Suburban on our blog, so be sure to go check it out.
When purchasing your 2025 Chevy Suburban you’ll have a few different powertrain options to choose from thanks to a trio of available engines. The standard engine is a 5.3L V8 capable of generating 355 horsepower alongside 383 pound-feet of torque. It features Dynamic Fuel Management Technology, Variable Valve Timing and is tethered to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The top-of-the-line option is instead a 6.2L V8 that comes standard in the High Country trim. It boosts power output to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. of torque and includes the same features and transmission.
The third and final option is a 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel engine – the one that we mentioned being more powerful than its predecessors earlier. Although it’s paired to the same transmission, it offers better fuel efficiency and adjusts power output to 277 hp and 460 lb-ft. While this is the most efficient option, if you want to maximize your ability to tow you’ll want the standard engine. This is because the 5.3L V8 achieves the highest trailering capacity available in the full-size SUV, which is 8,300 pounds when equipped with the vehicle’s Max Trailering package.
To help you figure out which 2025 Suburban is the right fit for you, we’ve put together the following trim level breakdown. You can find a brief overview of what’s available in each of the available trims and a glimpse of what your SUV will look like. Be sure to get in touch if you have any questions!
