This year marks the introduction of Chevrolet’s very first fully electric pickup truck, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, which is already available for sale right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This incredible machine offers everything you’ve come to love and expect from the Chevy Silverado 1500 with the added benefit of an all-electric powertrain underpinning it. Combining incomparable efficiency with mind-blowing power, plus a very impressive all-electric driving range, the new Silverado EV is sure to become a fan favorite rather quickly. Keep reading below if you’d like to learn more about the electric pickup truck.
The incredible, all-electric powertrain of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV can offer two different but both very impressive power ratings. The WT trim levels offer up to 510 horsepower alongside 615 pound-feet of torque, which are pretty amazing numbers that electrification detractors might not have expected a few years ago. But that’s just the beginning! The RST trim level, which comes with Wide Open Watts launch control, can generate up to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft. of torque with the feature activated! Those are pretty mind-blowing numbers that we cannot wait to see you experience for yourselves.
There are currently three different ranges available in the 2024 Silverado EV, depending on which trim level you choose. The 4WT has the best range, as the EPA has estimated it can achieve up to 450 miles on a full charge. The 3WT drops that down quite a bit, but at 393 miles on a full charge it’s still very impressive. The RST First Edition, on the other hand, is estimated to deliver 440 miles of range on a full charge – but that’s a GM estimate rather than an EPA estimate.
As for charging, through Level 2 charging you can get up to 19.2 kW/80 amps in a 240-volt outlet with PowerShift or Powerup+ Charger, which translates to about 34 miles per hour of charging. If you have access to DC fast charging, the RST and WT trim levels will be capable of up to 350 kW, which enables the ability to add up to 100 miles of range over 10 minutes of charging, according to GM estimates.
Just because the vehicle is electric doesn’t mean it gets to skimp on things like towing capacity and payload, and the Silverado EV doesn’t disappoint. While it doesn’t offer the same astounding capacities as the traditional Silverado, its numbers should more than accommodate your needs. With the RST, you’ll have up to 10,000 pounds of trailering capacity and 1,500 lbs. of payload. The 3WT may increase those numbers, with rumors of up to 12,500 lbs. of towing capacity.
Right now, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is only available as the RST trim level. It’s the trim level that was released at launch of the vehicle, but soon it will be joined by two WT trims (3WT and 4WT) which have been touched on a bit here as details have already been released for them. Eventually, there will also be both an LT and a Trail Boss trim level, which will bring even more options to shoppers. For now, the RST trim level starts off at a base MSRP of $94,500.
