One of the most exciting technological advancements to hit the automotive industry over the past decade plus has got to be the introduction of connected smartphone apps. While you still need your key fob once you get in your vehicle, you can lock, unlock and – if your vehicle has a remote starter – even start the vehicle from virtually anywhere. If you drive a Chevy, you can do these things and much more with the MyChevrolet App. But today, we're going to shine a light on some remote features you might not know about but should definitely be using!
Remote Lock & Unlock
Before we dive into the lesser known features, we’ve got to at least touch on the obvious ones that you should certainly be taking advantage of if you aren’t already. As already mentioned, with the MyChevrolet App you’re able to lock and unlock your vehicle from wherever you are. Did you just get to your movie seat and can’t remember if you locked the car? No problem. Busy at work but a loved one needs to get something out of the back seat? No problem. It’s a great feature that gives you much more flexibility and versatility than your regular key fob can provide.
Remote Start & Climate Control
Now onto the other feature that we already touched on — you can start your vehicle with your smartphone! As long as your Chevy is equipped with remote start capability, then you can start the vehicle with your phone so that it’s all warmed up when you get there. Keep in mind that you’ll have to start the car the normal way once you get to it, it’s just to help with warming your engine up and preconditioning the cabin.
Speaking of preconditioning, depending on your vehicle you might have access to climate controls in your MyChevrolet App as well. This allows you to actually change the temperature and other related settings right on your phone, which means remote start isn’t just helpful in the winter anymore. Now you can start your vehicle a few minutes early and blast the AC if it gets too hot in the summer!
Vehicle Status Monitoring
Now we’ll get to the first of the features that you might not be aware of, but should certainly take advantage of now that you do! With vehicle status monitoring, you’ll be able to track real-time updates on things like fuel level, tire pressure and oil life. This means you’ll always have quick access to important details like whether or not you’re going to need gas or to change your oil soon. Unsure if your gas tank is getting low? Check the app and you’ll know if you need to leave a little earlier than you otherwise planned.
Vehicle Health & Maintenance Scheduling
Tied right into that is the ability to see vehicle health reports, which give you an even better, more encompassing look at how your vehicle is doing. Plus, you can schedule maintenance or other service appointments right from in the app, too! You’ll no longer need to contact our service desk if you don’t want to, you can just schedule with a few taps.
Vehicle Location Services
Another useful feature is that the app has vehicle location services, so you’ll never get lost in a parking lot again! Once you get out of the grocery store and can’t remember where you parked, just pull out your phone and it should be able to give you the precise location so you can get there in no time. Works even better for large events like arena concerts or stadium sports games.
EV-Specific Features
If your Chevy vehicle happens to be an EV, you’ll get even more features as you can track your charging status and have alert notifications sent right to your phone. Plus, you can use the app to quickly and easily locate nearby charging stations so you don’t have to worry about finding a place to charge as much anymore.
