Published on Oct 27, 2026 by Jim Glover Chevrolet Creative Team

If you haven’t already heard, there’s an all-new Chevy Silverado 1500 on the horizon, as the iconic pickup truck enters its next generation for the 2027 model year. Today we’re going to take a look at what’s new in the next-gen truck, highlighting what has changed from the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 and what buyers should know before making a decision. If any questions arise during or after reading this comparison, don’t hesitate to reach out to us here at Jim Glover Chevrolet!

Powertrain and Mechanical Advancements

Some of the most exciting news relates to the updated V8 engines offered in the 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500, which we already covered in more detail earlier this month. But we just want to rehash and compare to what was available for 2026.

2027 Engine Option 2026 Engine Option

Beyond the specification changes highlighted in the table, the 2.7L TurboMax has been upgraded from an eight-speed automatic transmission to a superior 10-speed unit. Maximum trailering climbs by 400 pounds to 13.700 lbs. when equipped with the 5.7L V8 engine and Max Trailering Package.

2027 Chevy Silverado High Country Interior Cabin Dashboard and Multi-Flex Center Console

Interior Cabin & Technology

Another big update, pun intended, has to do with an increase in the size of dashboard screens. While the 2026 Silverado reserved its larger screen options for higher trim levels, the 2027 Chevy truck increases the infotainment screen size to 16.3” and makes it standard across the whole lineup, along with the 12.2” driver information center display.

Additional updates to the interior cabin include available dual wireless charging and an available Multi-Flex center console which is reconfigurable to provide maximum versatility and, if/when needed, storage. Plus, the 2027 High Country will be the first Silverado ever to provide a panoramic sunroof.

Off-Road Capability

Off-road enthusiasts can rejoice as well, as the 2027 Silverado 1500 will provide the most off-road capable ZR2 ever built. For 2026, the ZR2 provided 33” tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and a 2” factory lift. For 2027, ZR2 upgrades to 35” mud-terrain tires, adds jounce dampers alongside the Multimatic system, and introduces underbody cameras and washers not just for the first time on the model but in the entire segment.

Trim Lineup & Starting Prices

Last year the Silverado 1500 lineup consisted of 10 different trim levels, but that has been condensed to seven streamlined models.

  • Work Truck; starting at $41,395
  • Custom; starting at $46,395
  • Silverado (formerly LT); starting at $50,695
  • Custom Trail Boss; starting at $57,195
  • Trail Boss; starting at $63,995
  • High Country; starting at $74,495
  • ZR2; starting at $79,995
