The Chevy Colorado has been consistently turning heads since it made its triumphant return for the 2015 model year. When we say triumphant, we really mean it, because it won back-to-back MotorTrend Truck of the Year awards in 2015 and 2016. Now, nearly a decade later, the Colorado continues to dominate the midsize pickup truck segment it helped build, as it has once again won the prestigious award for 2024. This year the ZR2 Bison special edition is all-new, so we thought we’d talk about the different variants in which the 2024 Chevy Colorado is available. If you’re looking for a proper breakdown of the trim levels that are available to you, you’ve come to the right place.
The base trim level kicks off at a base MSRP of $29,800. It comes standard with the 2.7L turbocharged engine, which is capable of generating up to 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It also features 17” wrapped in all-season tires, the full Chevy Safety Assist suite of advanced driver assistance technologies, an 11.3” infotainment system featuring Google built-in and an 11” digital Driver Information Center.
The next step up on the list of available trim levels is the LT trim, which has a base MSRP of $32,200. It comes with the same engine as well as its own unique set of 17” wheels wrapped in all-season tires. The LT trim also has some unique design cues, namely several body-color accents such as the front fascia, the rear bumper and the door handles. It also has a Jet Black interior featuring Bright Silver accents. This trim also adds Keyless Open and Start.
The middle trim level then is the Trail Boss, which increases the starting price up to $37,600. Beneath its hood is a more powerful engine, the 2.7L TurboMax powertrain that’s capable of generating up to 310 horsepower alongside 430 pound-feet of torque. It has a set of 18” wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires and also has a two-inch factory-installed lift kit. Other off-road enhancements include a two-speed auto transfer case and transfer case shield as well as four selectable drive modes and an off-road performance display.
Taking another step up brings us to the iconic Z71 trim level, which has a base MSRP of $40,500. It’s once again powered by the TurboMax engine and has its own unique 18” wheels and all-terrain tires. On the inside it adopts the Jet Black interior but features Adrenaline Red accents, which match the tow hooks on the front fascia. As an upgraded off-road trim level, it too has the four selectable drive modes and off-road performance display. Finally, all of its exterior lighting has been upgraded to LEDs, including the headlights, taillights and fog lamps.
Finally, we have the ZR2 trim level, the pinnacle of what the Colorado has to offer. This trim level kicks off at a base MSRP of $47,100 and is powered by the TurboMax engine. It features a unique set of 17” wheels wrapped in massive 33” OD MT tires to better tackle off-road driving, which is also enhanced by a three-inch factory-installed lift kit, high-performance suspension system and segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSVTM dampers. It has the same off-road performance display as the previous two trim levels, but actually upgrades to five selectable drive modes for better versatility.
The true pinnacle, however, would be the ZR2 Bison Edition. This is a package that’s, obviously, only available on the ZR2 trim level and it brings even more off-road performance enhancements and rugged design cues thanks in large part to a partnership with American Expedition Vehicles.
